Installation
Agent Relay Desktop is a native macOS app, distributed as a signed and notarized disk image. It requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or newer on Apple Silicon. Installing takes about a minute.
Download the app
Grab the latest release from the Download button on the home page. It resolves the current Apple Silicon
.dmgautomatically, no need to pick a version.Open the disk image
Double-click the downloaded
Agent-Relay-<version>-arm64.dmg. A window opens with the Agent Relay icon and an Applications shortcut.Drag Agent Relay into Applications
Drag the app icon onto the Applications folder in the same window. That installs it system-wide and keeps auto-updates working.
Launch it
Open Agent Relay from Applications (or Spotlight). Because the app is notarized by Apple, it opens straight away, no security warnings and no right-click "Open" workaround needed.
What happens on first launch
The first time you open the app it runs a short setup:
- Agent detection: it scans your machine for installed agent CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Kimi, OpenCode) and shows which are available.
- Default agent & model: you pick what new chats start with. You can change this anytime in Settings → Launch defaults, or per chat.
- Workspace: chats run against a project folder you choose, or a neutral scratch space when none is attached.
Staying up to date
You don't need to reinstall for new versions. Agent Relay checks the stable channel automatically and updates in place without interrupting active work. See Updating.
Next: run your first agent in the Quickstart.
